I create custom editorial illustration for such publications as The Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Nexus magazine, and other periodicals

Branding & Marketing Materials / Winterline Global Skills Program

Winterline is a new concept in gap-year education. For their marketing effort and program launch, I created a consistent visual identity across print and web, including brochures and mailers, letterhead and business cards, and banners for their presence at educational fairs.

I created print collateral used at trade-show events, mailed to prospective students, or used by office and staff, retaining a consistent visual approach throughout.

I created this iteration of the Winterline website (above). I built out pages, response forms, and payment links, and linked up social media, blog components, and downloadable content on the Squarespace platform, using components generated and fine-tuned in Photoshop and Indesign.

Publications: Nexus magazine

As Art Director and Production Manager of Boulder, Colorado-based NEXUS MAGAZINE (2007-2014) I saw to all aspects of this bi-monthly publication's planning, design, production, and archiving, as well as contributing components to its online presence, Nexuspub.com. In addition to editorial and web design, I created ads and marketing materials for Nexus clients, produced in-house collateral materials, and coordinated file transfer, proofing, and press checks.

Publications: Los Angeles Times

As an Art Director for the LOS ANGELES TIMES (1994-2005), I partnered with editors, photographers and artists to design covers for feature sections, format and produce interior page layouts, and plan and execute photo shoots and art assignments, and produce cover illustrations. In addition to designing regular weekly sections, I was involved in special daily projects and weekend assignments as well. My sections included the Sunday Book Review, Sunday Opinion, Calendar, Health, and Business.

Ink pop studio

When not designing publications or promotional projects, I operate InkPop Studio, a boutique letterpress and design lab. I create custom letterpress work for clients, and also produce my own line of art prints and retail cards using my designs & illustrations, and run workshops.
